July

Beginners/First Steps/Wobblers (0-24 months)
It’s July and the long, hazy days of summer are here!  My how time flies when we’re having fun!  This month, your infant and toddler will catch the All-American Spirit as he or she enjoys activities that will stimulate brain development and increase their rapidly emerging skills.

During the first part of July, as other children in the school commemorate America’s birthday with displays of patriotism, your infant and toddler will celebrate their own independence and individuality.  He or she will work on repetition, animal sounds, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills as we pay close attention to their always-developing personality!

Working on all of these skills while your child is an infant builds a solid foundation for achieving maximum growth and development.  We know your little one is ready to discover lots of exciting things as we celebrate our independence and this great country!

Explorers (2-3 years old)
Catch the All-American Spirit this month as he/she learns about the people, places, and things that define our country!  As we celebrate the independence of our nation this month, we will be creating an atmosphere of patriotism and thankfulness for the great country we live in.  We will learn about the landmarks of this proud nation God has given us as we tour the "Land of the Free", and the "Home of the Brave."

Then it’s off on a trip to the "Wild, Wild West!"  We’ll also be playing and learning about the all American game of baseball as we enjoy summertime weather.  Finally, we’ll be "Flying High" as we explore air transportation and go on space adventures.  We know your little one is ready to discover lots of exciting things as we "travel" the land in search of all the wonderful things that make our country a great place to live!

Frogs, grasshoppers, icebergs, caves, woolly worms, and storm chasers are just some of the fascinating entries in the geography whirlwind adventure your child will experience this summer!  In week one, we learn about frogs, locusts, and farmers. What are those pesky critters doing here anyway?  In week two, we explore the great man-made water features of the world.  The Grand Canyon and the Panama Canal offer exciting ways to learn the science of working water.  The students will find out about bat caves, icebergs as big as a country, and mountains that no one has even seen all of. Creatures of the mountains and the oceans all have interesting habits.  In week four, we will find out who they are and learn how many animals adapt to our weather.  From bat caves and sled dogs to the kangaroo’s pouch, we’ll go under cover to see the wonder of nature’s protection. Your students will burst at the seams over making their own volcanoes.  It’s an explosive week!

Our Bible Focus reveals some real tough guys of the Bible: Moses fought off frogs, locusts, grasshoppers, and Pharaohs, but God was on his side and when Moses won the fight, it was with a big splash! The awe-inspiring mountains and the caves of protection offer us a look at God’s Majesty on display.  The earth He created is a beautiful and wondrous work to be appreciated and cared for.  We can also learn how God gave animals a natural instinct for protection and survival.  Many animals are mentioned in the Bible.  Finally, we discover that the great people of the Bible had occupations and lives just like ours.  It will be interesting for the students to learn what Peter, Luke, Lydia, and others did for a living.
