Here at Bedford Christian Academy & Montessori Preschool, we understand that each baby is an individual with their own needs and routines. We constantly monitor our little ones to ensure that these needs are being met and that they are receiving all of the comforts of home here at school.
Our Infant Program serves ages 6 weeks to 12 months. The infant classroom is a loving and nurturing environment where your child will grow, thrive and learn.
At Bedford Christian Academy, we focus on creating a bond between your child and their teacher. We hold, cuddle, sing and talk to our infants. This allows them to separate from you with ease and you can bring your child to school confident that they are in the best of hands.
Our infant teachers are early childhood professionals trained to nurture and encourage a positive sense of self for children. Talking, singing, humming, and American Sign Language are brought into the classroom to promote communication with others at a young age. American Sign Language is an amazing way that infants can learn to communicate prior to having their verbal skills.
Infant education is also fostered by offering experiences that teach object permanence, cause and effect relationships, and sensory awareness. Our comprehensive curriculum for infants enables our caregivers and parents to help build brain connections continuously throughout the day.
Sensory activities are among the most important parts of the infant curriculum. A baby’s senses are heightened right after birth and for the first few months of life. This is the optimum time to introduce bright colors, sweet smells, soft things to touch and manipulate, and sounds that are pleasing.
These activities keep the infants engaged and they also foster the healthy development of their five senses. Also, sensory activities help sharpen body awareness and their abilities to maintain their balance. Tummy time is a perfect example of an activity that helps with the muscle coordination babies need to help them learn to maintain their balance as they get older.
Safe Sleep Guidelines are a part of our classroom environment. These guidelines meet those of the American Academy of Pediatrics. This helps to provide an overall safe learning space for your child to grow, move, and discover.
